Cookie Stories! - Buckingham 30
Saturday evening, each man is given three bags of cookies, one bag contains “forgiveness” cookies to share with another man who he holds in “unforgiveness.” On Sunday each man is asked to share with the assembled group what happened when each gave away his “forgiveness” cookies.
Robert gave his forgiveness cookies to a friend. Roberts said he felt distanced from his friend. When he gave his forgiveness cookies to him, his friend was disturbed...said he had done nothing wrong. They talked and barriers fell. Their relationship was healed.
Jerry said he does not let people inside his circle. He chose to give his forgiveness cookies, in addition to his own cookies, to two men outside his circle. He was greeted by strange looks. He told them they were gifts from God.
Jewell said he has been giving his cookies away for several nights. However, he avoided giving cookies to two men based on how he felt they carried themselves. Last night he gave his forgiveness cookies to those two men. One man came back later and pointed out that no one had come back to thank Jewell. This man came back to thank him. Jewell said he was sad he had prejudged this man. He said he now realized the true meaning of forgiveness cookies.
A bag of cookies is given to each man in the general population of the prison on Friday evening. Michael observed a man react in anger when the bag of cookies he received contained only crumbs. Michael gave him his own bag of “whole” cookies.
Michael said that the name of his cell mate had been on his forgiveness list. He gave his forgiveness cookies to his cell mate and praised the Lord that the cookies helped break down barriers.
